Acne Treatment Glasgow

Acne can have such a profound impact on the quality of life of sufferers an is often trivialised or poorly treated by Health Care Professionals.

At Clinica Medica, our Clinical Director Shirley Nicol has a special interest in providing help & advice to patients to help them manage the disease and help prevent more permanent scarring. Scarring not only of the face but the psychological scarring that may last a lifetime.

It is not uncommon for patients to lose confidence, socially isolate and suffer from depression due to acne and at Clinica Medica we recognise this and empathise. Listening to our patients about their acne and what is important to them is at the forefront of all our consultations and treatment journeys.

Isabelle’s Acne Journey

Isabelle began her journey here at Clinica Medica with an acne skin consultation with our Clinical Director Shirley Nicol. Shirley as an aesthetic nurse with a special interest in cosmetic dermatology welcomed Isabelle to the clinic. Embarking on a journey together Shirley used her unique combination of understanding the psycological aspect with her expertise in treating acne to achieve what Isabelle thought was never possible.

Using a non-systematic approach to drugs Isabelle began her Kleresca programme, a treatment using fluorescent light energy that is tough on acne but gentle on the skin.

During the course of her treatment, with medical intervention, a hormone was prescribed in the form of co-cyprindiol (Dianette), this hormone if often prescribed for acne in women where the acne has not responded to antibiotics.

The acne cleared with these treatments however Isabelle had Post Inflammatory Hyper-pigmentation, a medical condition where the skin suffers discolouration caused by the acne. This hyper-pigemntation was successfully reduced using Sunekos Tropeel, a 60% Glycolic Peel with a significant active depigmenting action.

Both Shirley and Isabelle are delighted with the results.
